interview preparation Follow these few simple tips and you should arrive calm, collected and ready to give your best.
- Check the address of the company - if you don't know where it is, look on a local street map.
- If you need public transport to get to the interview, contact the bus company and find out the number of the bus you need to get and
what time to get it. Remember you should allow yourself plenty of time to get to your interview.
- Carefully choose what you will wear. Remember that you are trying
to impress an employer - not a potential partner or group of
friends!
- Go through your Progress File or National Record of Achievement (NRA) and your Careers interview notes to identify important and relevant points you want to stress to a potential employer.
Prepare answers to questions that you might get asked at an interview.
Here are some examples of questions you could get asked:
- Why did you decide to apply for this job?
- What did you do in your last job?
- Why did you leave that job/training/course?
- Have you done this kind of work before?
- Why do you want to work here?
- What wages do you expect to get?
- What can you offer to our firm?
- How healthy are you?
- How much time have you had off work being sick?
- What are your strengths and weaknesses?
